Incursions structure, limited rewards

Not sure I understand this.
Because I have a large roster, I’m auto-placed in Tier 1. That means I can only get rewards for playing in Zone 7 or 8, no matter what team of champs I bring?
Meaning I can’t get rewards if I play in Zone 5 or 6, even if I use a team of 4*s with a combined total of 13k, which should place the team in the Zone 5-6 range?
I’m trying to understand how Incursions is a beneficial way to spend my time in the game, when I can’t get rewards for playing with any champs but my highest in the highest Zones. Seems like it really limits roster usage.
