Prestige for AQ

This may be a basic question but is the prestige for AQ different than the alliance prestige?

My alliance prestige is about 11k, but the AQ prestige shows 18k. Not sure why the difference.

Alliance prestige(11k in your case) is the starting prestige on day1. If you keep clearing maps it goes up and if you fail to clear maps, it goes down. As prestige goes up the points multiplier and the health and attack of defenders increases. Hope that helps.
