Questions about Battlegrounds (Constructive)

Hi,

I don't want this to be another post about "oh, Battlegrounds is broken and sucks", but I have some questions that I feel are constructive rather than problematic I'd like to ask politely.

1. How much was changed from the CCP to the current Beta?
2. What was it that was changed or not changed that's changed it from being smooth on the CCP to this?
3. Why open it up to UC and above? Usually new content is opened up to Cav-TB players to avoid overloads, so why not this too?
4. What prevented Battlegrounds from having designated beta server like with story content? If nothing, why try a live server beta feature launch?

I'm not expecting any answers (though they would be nice), but I feel this is a more constructive approach than the way most of the community is taking, especially since now we get matches, do bans, draft teams, set defenders and attackers for round 1 but can't get into fights, which is a large improvement from before.

Thanks

I agree with this approach. And to be honest I expected them to put it out in stages (beta for TB players first, then a few days later put out one for cav, etc) so that it would lessen the load a bit, just for the beta.

If all they were doing was checking how much load their servers are able to take, then why keep the energy cost?
Rather they could have kept the cost at 0. At least that way people would have been able to try without having to worry about wasting their refills
Don't u got any energy refills for free on inbox?

You get 5 refills for testing.

It answers questions 3 and 4, but not 1 and 2; so yes helpful, but still missing a few pieces of the puzzle.

It answers 2 as well. The stress on the server is way higher this time.

And as for 1, in terms of substantive changes, it appears they tweaked the scoring a bit to prioritize getting the opponent down above maintaining your own health.

The bugginess at launch didn’t have to do with a difference in the mode between CCP beta and now, it has to do with the fact that the CCP was extremely limited in scope and therefore not an issue in terms of player capacity.

Stress testing the servers was not the only goal of this public beta, but it is a major one. Public beta tests are standard practice in gaming as it is impossible to hire enough testers to work as efficiently as a player base can.

All players were sent 5 full energy refills, that’s 350 free energy. Enough energy to run battlegrounds 23 times before actually eating into your own supply, and that doesn’t account for the refills they put in the objectives. So I don’t find the concern about energy usage to be particularly compelling.

If you understand that part, then 2 is redundant. Same as 1. Nothing was changed in the mode. Just the number of people playing it. From a few dozen in the CCP to tens of thousands on the live server.
