Safeguard hasn’t happened in this beta yet but it was a thing last month

For a couple reasons.
There are a lot more counters for this node than either safeguard or the Power combo.
You can heal block/reverse it, not inflict debuffs, out damage it, use someone like apoco, or play around it, or use AAR.
With safeguard you are forced to use champs that can deal passive or DoT.
With the power nodes, you have to have a power control or AAR champ. You can play around it, but with some defenders where you want to bait Sp2s, you can eat a lot of Sp3s. (Fury 👀)
Overall, I enjoyed Masochsim the most, as I found it the least restrictive
