day late on posting this but the second episode was just as good imo. Loved the music choices (the ronettes? wow!) and I quite enjoyed some more of the characterization and exploration of Kamala’s heritage in the episode.
The last scene after she got away from Damage Control and got in the car. Who do you think that lady in the car? I know its the mom to the senior boy who Kamala met at the party, but curious what character from the comics she is going to be.
Word on the street is, since Bruno mentioned the powers coming from within Kamala, that she'll be the first mutant in the mcu. But, imo it would still make her an inhuman. Hopefully they keep it that way, though inhumans aren't all that different from a mutant anyways.

me theory is that the writing is kree the bangle is unlocking her powers via the kree dna inside of her
would fit with the inhuman stuff and is a tie to captain marvel
I thought it would be all woke etc. But I was surprised with how episode 1 played out so I’ll watch a few more episodes. (The best part so far seems to be Kamala’s family - they’re quite funny)

Kamala’s dad is the funniest character in the whole show

Nah. That would stray way too far from her Inhuman origins. I think they'll officially introduce Inhumans through her.
I like it so far and I'm curious if and How this might redefine Inhumans for the MCU. Disney wants to fully separate them selves from the failed ABC inhumans. Ms Marvel is thier chance to redefine the race for the future
So gar it's been great.. Not as good as Loki or Wanda so far but definitely worth a watch. and also bit relatable in a way because many pop culture references are bit relatable due to Bollywood connection and also few Hindi dialogue here and there are bit fun.. I know not this does not make a show great but it makes it more relatable with characters
I (almost) loved it. The Scott Pilgrim vibes are excellent and the casting is very good. I found it charming and warm and something I look forward to each week. The immigrant context and family humor is also deftly done.
It’s just fun and enjoyable. And I really, really like Kamala and find it tough to believe this is Iman Vellani’s first credit. She’s better than I could have imagined.

Well this exactly sums up my take on the show. I’m not the target demographic but I still think it’s a really fun show, Iman Vallani is incredibly likable and just brilliant as KK.
Deeply unimpressed with the caption at the start. British India or British controlled India would be more accurate. I'm not defending colonialism and the Empire, but you might as well have a caption saying European Occupied America each week.
so the mandarin is involved with another celestial weapon and this one from ms marvel shows a blue severed hand... the KREE!!! since marvel can now bring the agents of shield into the loop the kree stuff can be made canon from that show. meaning that most of these objects have history there ass well. i feel like all this stuff will lead to nova being the new big thing.
not necessarily spoiler just a type of prediction but still the back ground stuff is getting interesting compared to the actual character.

Bahaha. It's British occupied India plain an clear. There's no 2 way about it
Disappointed with Ep 3. Djinn concept seems problematic from a ton of angles. While I love the family, I struggle with their continued nonchalance towards Kamala’s sudden unusual behavior and “wildness.” For some reason, this episode mostly abandoned the interesting graphics that punctuated the last two episodes. For the first time, I felt like I was watching an old after school special.

Hope it was just a hiccup.

i think the whole thing of the graphics going away is on purpose
kamala is starting to come out of her fantasy land in her head and she’s now becoming more and more grounded
loveddddd the wedding, wish I could’ve gone. Looked like such a good time

Do you mean problematic in a story telling way or problematic in a PC kind of way?
Non chalance of the parents is fine. It's basically needed and used in all shows and movies where kids are the main characters. My parents call me every 1 hour if i ever go out and I'm a grown ass man. That kind of parental concern just isn't going to work in shows

Re: parents…Hilarious. True.
Likely both for the djinn. I don’t see the rationale for a new separate dimensional race in Marvel storytelling (and I really think it’s a head fake). We have so many ways to get Kamala her powers without introducing genies. I was actually hoping the bangle was one of the Nega-Bands from the original Cap Marvel.
Also, commentary from some Muslim Marvel fan/commentator types suggests the way djinn concepts are introduced skims the edge of religious issues Disney usually avoids. I am not Muslim, but I do appreciate that religious ideas and entities ought to be handled carefully by Marvel. I think it will ultimately be resolved that they are Kree or something else, though, so I doubt it will be a real problem. Many of the show runners have Middle Eastern roots so I’m sure they have it handled.
At this stage, I just want the show to get its momentum back. First two episodes were really fun.
Note Kamran's mother called them the Clandestine? That's apparently a reference to the comics Clan Destine, who were a family of immortals who's mother was a Djinn.
Personally, I didn't think it was such a reference, but Marvel.com has an article on there about Clan Destine and their comic appearances that was posted up this week, so, I'm tending to think they are the MCU Clan Destine.
