Gifting Consumables Question

Dan_DragonDan_Dragon Member Posts: 8
Just a quick question following the news on the gifting event:

Do mastery cores count as consumables? And by extension which other items could we see gifted outside of normal health pots and revives?

Was planning to use gifting as a way to finalise my mastery setup, would appreciate any clarification.

Would love an answer to this sooner than later, as I too was farming units to gift my alt account mastery cores. Have been using the units to progress to the next title as of now, but would like to know if I need to change my strategy.

The simplest answer is often the right one so my assumption is that there will only be a small change. The Gifting Event in the past had the ability to gift a ton of different items, including Mastery Cores. I think it's safe to assume that it will be the same list of items as in years past and only the Gifting and Greater Gifting Crystal will be removed.

@K00shMaan I agree with your assumption. But, none the less, I would love some clarification from Kabam on this so that I do not continue to "waste" time and units trying to clear content when I should be saving for masteries.

I'm not sure I agree with Kabam's logic on this. Realistically, it doesn't matter if I agree or not. I don't make the rules. Alt accounts have always been within the rules of the game. I can appreciate Kabam's side of this coin as well. They lose a lot of money every year to people scamming or doing sketchy stuff. The problem I have is simply that they're punishing player who are trying to stay within the rules. I'm not the only one who has spent a lot of time farming units specifically for the gifting event and now we're all getting slapped down because Kabam can't seem to figure out how to do stop people doing bad stuff. With all of the problems Kabam has had this year and all of the frustration within the community already it really seems like yet another Kabam slap in the face. IDK...after 7 years of playing I've seen a lot of good and bad from Kabam. The "good" is getting less and less. Honestly beginning to question if it's even worth it anymore.

I wanted to follow that up with a suggestion. There's really no point in me whining if I can't offer some sort of solution. I don't know if this is even a feasible option but I do think it would be adequate compensation for this issue. Would it be reasonable to allow a one-time unit transfer from no more than 3 alt accounts to a primary account with the agreement to then deactivate the alt accounts. Maybe put a unit limit on the transfer, no more than 5k or 10k units. Only open that transfer window for a limited time period, maybe 3 days. After that, no more discussion, matter closed, let's move on and put it behind us. Thoughts?

Because this will still allow you to siphon the full value of your alt account units to your main which is what i think they're trying to stop? Just speculation on my part tho

Mastery Cores have always been giftable though. Both in every years Gifting Event and back when gifting was a permanent feature of the game.

In fact, the most likely thing is that when this new gifting drops, you'll probably still be able to gift Greater Gifting Crystals and Kabam will have to remove the feature and fix it.

Your solution to the problem is worse than the problem..so they are trying to stop the scams and black market of GGC and u propose to be able to transfer the currency 🤣

Oh, I don't claim that it's a "good" solution. I just think hamstringing players who are trying play within the rules is a poor solution too.

Its not even a solution... Its a bigger problem

The way I look at consumables is items that you use withing the fights, have a limit and can expire (revives, boosts, health pots, etc). This is my belief as these are the types of items kabam always sends when sending consumable type of compensation packages.

Based on this I don't think they will be, but I could very easily be wrong. Also allowing for these to be given to other accounts can lead to further abuse.

No, alt accounts are part of the reason for the change.

“In the past, we allowed legitimate secondary accounts to gift themselves and, while it was never the spirit of the gifting event, it required a lot more time and effort on the part of individual summoners. Now, it is far too easy.”
