Alliance invites expiring seconds after sent

I’ve invited 2 people to my alliance today and both times they’ve tried to join they get the same message “invite expired” why is this happening?

It’s always better for them to request to join and approve than using the broken invitation feature.

have them ask to join, invites never work for me either, I’ve given up on that way of acquiring new players
