Debuff detox question

I went into a boss fight against knull in aw. I used falcon, with the debuff detox attack tactic. I danced around to get the 6 charges. It did not remove any of those debuffs.

Is this a bug or did I misunderstand the attack tactic? When it says debuff immune, does that only apply to newly incoming debuffs?

I am talking about the 15 living abyss debuffs that get applied at start of fight by his awakened ability. After trying again for science, it appears the debuff immunity simply never applies. I don’t see anything in the node description or knulls abilities to explain this.
