Act 7 exploration or 8.1

What should I try to explore first? I feel like my roster is fairly limited. I think I am going to r3 moleman soon because of his versatility, still have a generic 2-3 gem from act 7 completion.

8.1 is far easier, and you get a 3-4 rank up gem crystal.
