Have map 8 cross-fights always been broken?

I have been taking buffed up in section 2 map 8 since it was introduced and only a few weeks ago I noticed I was gaining a vigilance buff and that when I even realized there are cross-fights :) but now seems to be broken again. https://youtu.be/50TADLNNxaU
