Just switch both attackers and defenders. Their defender was able to prolongue the fight longer than yours, while also be able to lose less HP than yours. Their defender won in these 2x aspects, only losing to the fact that yours was able to take more HP, which the difference is minimum

You don't get points for time remaining unless the defender is defeated. Neither of you did, but your opponent dealt more damage to the defender than you so you lose.

Because you "stayed alive longer" is a very sugarcoated excuse for you taking longer on one of the clearly known BG scoring criteria which frankly is the quicker you finish fights the better (staying alive longer is the opposite of what you want to do).

Otherwise, we'd just pause the fight after the first 5 hits and all "win" with 100% health.
More points for more damage dealt is a better deciding factor than how much health you have - the secondary and lesser factor of the fight.
Both are important, but damage dealt is more important in close matchups.
