Unable to bind relic to 6* Shang-Chi

Currently getting this message when trying to bind a relic to Shang-Chi. I am currently not active in any quests and he is not being used in AQ or AW. Every single other champ can be selected just fine without the message.

EDIT: apparently this happens when a champ is locked into an arena team.

    I am having a similar problem. Anytime I use someone in AQ or AW, they stay locked even when the boss is down and I have reached the last node.
