How does BG Matchmaking Work?

I don’t understand how in the Gladiator’s Circuit, I match with someone who’s 3 ranks higher and had 30 points higher than me? (254 points vs. 224 points)

    I match higher and opponents with less pints sometimes also, having 1 min matchmaking queue makes me think it matches you with the closest opponent in a limit cap of 3 rank difference

    Don’t know if it changed but it used to be +/-50 points, regardless or rank

    They pick the first and closest player in points available, I have met players many points above me.

    I rally think they're using prestige in GC as well at VT.
