Why are relics not allowed in AQ?

Relics bring prestige, and the only place prestige matters is AQ. Its clear to compete for the top to meet the prestige requirements grinding for relics and their rank up resources is important.
But why is it that something so intrinsically linked... that you can't bring them actually into the game mode?
