Shards missing, any ideas how or why this happens?

Around 9800 5 Star shards of mine went missing after opening a 5 star crystal from incursions. Kabam can't confirm my account to help me unfortunately, but missing shards seems to be a common occurrence from a multitude of things. I'd love to know if anyone knows how, why, or when this occurs, and on what platforms (im on Android) and mainly how to avoid it. Thanks

    Yeah its probably rare, or maybe an occasional thing, unfortunately I got smothered in useless corporate support emails, so I don't think my account is legible for any support, and ill never find out what happened. What platform are you on by the way?

    There were those recent reports of people opening crystals and not having the shards deducted from their totals after it crashed out or something (it was with the reports of people opening nexus crystals and making a choice and then the game crashing and when reopening they could select the nexus champ again thereby duping them) so it wouldn't surprise me if there is some issue where getting a crystal with 1 resource is mistakenly taking another resource in addition or in place of at this point. The game is a mess with bugs and they seem to be messing things up even more than usual.

    Thanks for that, really interesting to hear actually. This problem happened to me before but was mostly visual, and for my hoarde of 4 star shards. Unfortunately though, they won't let me get help either, I switched from Apple to Android, so some of the security questions they're asking me like my first purchase (on an 8 year old account) is literally impossible. I get automated responses and they refuse to help me, I'm so disappointed, they're clealry using privacy as an excuse to not fix problems. Basically because I switched platforms and played for so long that initial info is lost to dust, and so they will never provide me any support. Its outright insulting, but its interesting to see that this bug has other ways of manifesting
