No he doesn't need it. It's a nice to have but if my 6* wasn't awakened I'd have still taken him to rank 4. He's an awesome champion.

Both myself and an ally mate got our first higher version of a champ from today's crystal. I'm thinking i'm lucky but this is where we find out that the drop rates went up and we are just average!

Oh you lucky bas****! I was hoping to pull him on the higher rarity, but had no luck.

So far I've gotten the higher rarity only once (Jubilee), which is pretty sad considering I play longer than these crystals exist.
