6 path vs 9 path

Hey guys i need some advise.
We are at the moment in tier 9 aw
I keep being told that 6 path and concentrating on boss kill is more important than getting the exploration in. Where as i feel doing 9 path and still trying on boss kill is somewhat a better solution
Is there a boss kill vs exploration ratio somewhere or could someone enlighten me
