A Rare Thumbs up for Kabam

Lets all take a beat on bashing Kabam for making this 7* celebration a "High progression only" event, because, well... it should be. It seems like everyone thinks they are entitled to a prized 7* no matter your progression? We need to view it through the lens of 6*s. The availability of 6* has completely changed to landscape of the contest. The Collector, a fight created for 4*s, is now fought with r5 5* and r2 6*. The Grandmaster, a fight designed for r5 5* and r2 6*s is now being fought with R4s. Kabam recognized this and we all need to as well, 7*s will absolutely BREAK the game for anyone less than ACT 8 progression level. The best and biggest players don't have more than 5 6* R5s, and the 7* is essentially an R5. So why should everyone have access to it at launch and break the game?

Arithmetic, indeed.
The launch plus the quest along with 200-unit Paragon crystals is a pretty good way to make this viable for f2p. They structured the rewards very well.
Edit: I’ll take it all back in two hours if the Shooting Stars rewards stink. My understanding is that they do not.
I'm not complaining tho, with minimal unit spend I'm about to get my first full t6cc selector which brings me very close to a 2nd r5. This plus the 7500 7 star shards I got from solo and alliance event are nice rewards. There are 7500 more in there + 2 7 star crystals but for that you need to spend big time (cash or units).
Non whales will have to sit and watch them strengthen their already beefed up roster.
Kabam will surely have good business this month. No doubt.
Its just disappointing for us who cant break the paywall.
Complain here is about not being able to complete it without spending or uniting through.
It's not exactly a celebration
Spending is necessary for the game, but don't package it as something that it's not
Also it's essentially very similar to the gifting event
So we should've received some prior info about the alliance participation lock-in periods so that players could've been better prepared for it
Many players have lost their rewards due to no fault of their own
With AW season, BG season & these events, all starting & ending at different timeframes but still requiring players to be in the alliance for a specified time, it gets close to impossible to switch alliances without losing on some rewards
Specially in such cases where players didn't have the requisite info to be prepared for it
And then there is the bug of missing Paragon Crystals which is not being addressed......neither on the forums nor in replies to support mails
It's fine to design spending based events, but this is not the way to do it
I liked what i got, and it sounds like you did too. Can't please everyone, though it's nice to look like you're trying every once in a while kabam.
