Should special 3 fail against special delivery?(in TB EQ)

I may have misunderstood the node combination, but I hit Omega Red with Nimrod’s Lv 3 special attack in this month’s TB event quest. It did “0” damage. Was that a possible bug or an overlooked consequence of something else? Thanks for any clarification.
