Question about relics

I could be wrong but I thought relics were supposed to be optional? There are more and more nodes coming out that you need to use them for. Side question why are they called relics and not just strikers?

Stun is great to get in additional 5 hit combo. Plus they do add additional features. Love Antman relic on both Cassie and Piggy.

My main problem with these nodes rn is the fact that we don't have enough strikers, it's annoying that if you want to use that champion in that path, you need to go to relics, remove from some champion and equip on the champion that you want to use it just so you can some sort of power gain...seriously kabam this is just not fun '-' they need to release strikers more often if they continuing to force us to use them

Another thing that doesn't help with getting more strikers is RNG...it's been quite a while that kabam released green goblin as a striker and to this point i don't have any rarity of him...neither black widow or valquiria, i continue to dup some other relics and not get a new one
