The meaning of waiting for the AW Rewards?

What was the point of waiting for Alliance War Season Rewards if you gave the Trimmed Alliances rewards as if they hadn't been trimmed in the first place?

For example, an Alliance that was in Platinum 2 and got trimmed to Platinum 3 - received Platinum 1 rewards.

    If an alliance received Plat 1 rewards, they landed in plat 2. Why would they be in plat 3?

    Because they have a player banned in the Alliance for piloting the Alliance War.

    If they docked points because of the hacker and they ended up in Plat 3, they'd only get plat 2 rewards. If they got Plat 1 rewards, then docking the points from the hacker just wasn't enough to push them down to plat 3.
