Bg disconnects?

How do disconnects work in bg? I've had plenty, I don't know why, and it results in my loss everytime. It doesn't seem to matter what the match looked like or how fast it reconnects. Once it cuts its just done? My iPad drops every few matches, but my phone is usually pretty reliable. But just now had one that I won the 1st match, and the second one finished (doom vs herc, my last hit triggered immortality at :01) as soon as it popped timeout the game disconnected, I hit reconnect and got back in within a couple seconds (2 or 3) and it opened to the beginning of the fight and immediately posted timeout. Then it called the match against me, but I'm not sure why or how. Did I get modded or does bg just like to disconnect and has a **** system for match recovery?
