Forum poll posts need to be approved before appearing?

I just spent like 30 minutes typing a poll only for it to say “the post is pending approval” after I hit the yellow “post” button. Then when i tried to click “back” to at least recover the text via a copy paste, it was all gone.
I’ve never seen polls having to be approved prior to going on the site, what gives?
