How does legends event part 1 work

Greetings everyone.
I just completed the BrutalDLX event (part 2?) and am wondering if for part 1 you have to explore all six stages. I checked around but was not quite comprehending what was being said in the discussion of the event.

    You have to complete at least one path of each progression (Proven to Paragon) to get the completion rewards, and then fully explore everything to get the rest
