Stuck on Plat 2

sakaisakai Member Posts: 8
So i did some bg's grinding and went from gold to plat 3, it was fine, as soon as i reach plat 2, the paired me against paragons and tb's while im a cav with 8k prestige and a pretty under-developed roster. Most players i was facing had almost all their champs above 10k+. Lost currently 6 matches, why is this happening? Is this tier considered "free for all"?

Yes, it’s a battle for the best player. They are generous to give you some playground where you can’t get stomped from the bigger guys.

Be happy with the easy rewards you've been able to get until Plat 2.

The game matches you with people in or around your level until Plat 2, then you start matching a wider range of players in that bracket.

In future seasons, my suggestion is to throw some matches in the Gold or so tier so you don't get promoted, and focus more on the daily objectives to get some extra Trophy tokens while you're in a tier you can actually win. Then, when the season is almost over push to Plat 2 and see if you can make it any higher.

Just think of BGs like Arena or Alliance War, you're not going to be able to get the top rewards unless you work on your account. Focus on progressing a
story and BGs will eventually become easier as you build your roster.

I can't agree with this. Telling people to confine themselves to Gold by Tanking isn't helping them.

My suggestion is to keep trying while you work on your Roster. Eventually you will make more progress.

Me at Diamond IV and I can't get pass through. Even with dozen champs with more than 10k

    Against Legends with 20k+ Champs

In the fight their champs reach 40-45k

One error and their attack may be the end of fight.

I will be stucked on 175k BG milestone.

It does seem like Plat 2 is where the hand-holding stops.
This is my first season actually pushing in BGs. I'm playing two accounts. My experience:

    Paragon account (4 million)
    - started in Bronze
    - consistently got matched with relatively similar accounts (3-5 million)
    - slogged my way to Plat 2
    - suddenly got matched with a wild array of accounts (anywhere between 400k and 5m)
    - absolute breeze getting to Vibranium, where accounts are mostly similar again and i'm winning around 50% of matches so far

    Cavalier account (600k)
    - started in Bronze
    - consistently got matched with relatively similar accounts (400k - 1.5 million)
    - sailed through to Plat 2
    - suddenly got matched with a wild array of accounts (anywhere between 400k and 5m)
    - absolute slog getting to Diamond (with the help of so many shields), where accounts are bigger on average and i'll be lucky to ever win again

There may still be an element of size-based matchmaking from Plat 2 onwards, but that's the point where my Paragon account started facing minnows and my Cavalier account started facing whales.

I mean its not ideal but you'll at least be able to get points towards BG and Alliance objectives, as well as get wins to complete the win matches objectives for trophy tokens. They'll also likely have an easier time pushing past Plat 2 once the season starts to end and more people have pushed past it.

I can't really see how rushing to Plat 2 only to get clobbered over and over by people with way stronger rosters is better advice or how you feel that helps them but to each their own.

Again I admit it's not an ideal strategy but at the end of the day we all have to do what gives us the best advantage for the time we spend in the game. My advice will yield a lower level player a bit extra rewards while yours basically turns them into free wins for higher accounts they can't realistically beat.

That’s interesting. I’m guessing prestige has next to nothing to do with it—mine is “low” compared to what it could be (16.9 and sitting on a ton of T6/T3a and a R5 gem waiting to decide what to do), and my main rankups have been R2 7* which don’t tend to push prestige as high as certain max sig R5 6*’s if they aren’t awakened.

With that said, I really never faced any minnows. I did face an all 4* deck used by am account similar sized to mine—why I don’t know. But nearly every account I hit up to Gamma was 3-4 million, some form of Legend banner, multiple R5/R2 champs. Basically, I fought myself or myself+ all the way up from Platinum.

I’d like to think there’s a well thought out algorithm behind it all, but I’m beginning to think some players are just locked into one form of matchmaking or another. Or—and this is speculation—the “anything goes at Plat” rule is more aspirational than hard and fast and may be something that takes iterations to achieve. Or it’s just broken.

Not asking for easy matches, but I do disagree with players getting preferred matches into GC if that’s happening.

Interesting. One possibly relevant factor is that i waited so long to make my push. This time last week i was in Gold 3. I think by that time a lot of big accounts were ahead of me up in Vibranium and GC.

Ah well, my main issue was just to get past the last milestone in the bg's objective. Somehow got 4 wins to complete it.
