What should Kabam do to make useless 5*s have some actual use other than arena purposes?

This might sound like a preposterous question but I feel that many players can empathize and/or sympathize. If the future of this game are 5* and 6* champs then I'm certain the day will come god tier 4*s will be like god tier 3*s who have no use in game content by veteran players except in arena. I wasn't around during the transition from 3*s to 4*s so I might not be in the best position to ascertain that things are or will be different with the 4* to 5* transition, let alone the 5* to 6* transition. To those who witnessed this transition, can the same considerations from 3* to 4* be applied to 4* to 5* transition, given the rarity of resources to rank 5* champs?
Perhaps some kind of special ability or power be afforded to champs that are classified as "sub par" or as Seatin calls them "MEH champs?" No, I am not asking that every 5* should become god tier level. That would create bigger problems than keeping the balance skewed towards having useless 5* champs vs every single one of them becoming god tier.
But Kabam must address that huge usefulness gap between let's say, an unduped 5* Magik and an unduped 5* Kamala Khan, or a duped 5* Voodoo vs a duped 5* Iron Patriot. The usefulness difference is quite epic across the god tier and MEH champs it will only make sense that the development team of Kabam consider how to balance this discrepancy.
I know this might yet be one of the biggest challenges that Kabam design/programming/development team might have to address but it's an issue that simply cannot go unnoticed and unheeded.
I'm hoping that those who have brilliant ideas on how to close the difference (shrink the delta) between the usefulness gaps share your thoughts on this post.
