Catacomb quest entry refund not working

I got the key to unlock the path with the Cache of Treasures, but I accidentally went to the wrong path and then I couldn't return.

If I was to finish the quest I would miss the Cache of Treasures, so instead I quit the quest.

Before quiting the game said I would be refunded with the Spelunking Rope that was consumed for that entry. But so far I have not.

Why design a quest with this possibility of losing rewards accidentally?

    Entry fees (ropes) are not refunded but gate fees (shovels) are.

    Still, what's the point of refunding the gate fee, if you won't be able to enter the quest lol.
