With Banquet rewards announced this marks the first time in my memory (and 8 year old account) that 2 of the 3 “Big” spending events were received with a sentiment of being underwhelming. While the shortsighted among us have rushed here to deliver the spray of complaints about how much you all held back, I remember this event in a much different light: namely, that these events would help to seriously differentiate between being able to keep up or be cut out. As someone deeply entrenched in the MCOC end game back from when AW was the focus to now when returning to Celestial in BGs is my focus, it is genuinely nice to have the sentiment change from “These bundles/events will singlehandedly define the relevance of my account for months” to “these additions make for meaningful but not insurmountable amounts of progression”.

Chiefly, it will be nice to know that, upon opening the game on December 20th, my BGs experience is not going to be a guaranteed de-ranking experience outlined by an army of r3 7 stars. Battlegrounds, perhaps moreso than any game mode in MCOC history, has hard limitations on how feasible maintaining a rank is provided your roster is not reasonably late-game and these events wont upset that balance if you choose not to engage with them.

In the past these events were slightly unreal to me in that they not only rewarded spending but felt as if they delegitimized in game content. Id have to go back to verify, but there was a spending event that introduced the ability to either r5 or r4 6 stars in such great amounts that, if you chose not to spend but had done 100% of the game, your roster would be outnumbered in ratios closing in on 7 or 8 to 1 in terms of r5s. Including banquet there will be 4 r3 options available and HALF are tied to actual in game achievements. This is AMAZING, and makes the rankups we get from necropolis impactful and longlasting staples which arent going to be brushed off in 14 days. I love this direction of making in game progress *feel* more impactful.

Thanks for this. Happy holdiays.
