Can we use champions that we put as AW defenders in other quests?

It seems that AW defenders are available for other quests, but sometimes it seems that they are not?
I might be confusing something, can you please explain? Are AW defenders always available for use in other quests and if not - when they are not?
Also, are AW attackers always available for use in other quests? Thank you.

    AW defenders are always available to be used in other quests.
    The strange thing is, you can't change or remove their relics, despite relics have no use in AW defense.
    My 4* black widow relic is forever locked on my korg because of this.

    You can use AW defenders and attackers anywhere except AQ.

    If an attacker is in aq you can't use them anywhere else - at least that was my experience when i was trying to use a champ i had locked in aq in story mode.
