Tips for Week 2 All-Science path for Absorbing Man

UsagicassidyUsagicassidy Member Posts: 1,436 ★★★★
Hey y'all, I'm trying to do one of the week 2 paths with an all-science team for the special objective rewards and I am BAD. Just baaaaaad. I understand the concept, but gosh it doesn't seem to execute well. Try not to block because they gain energy (I don't know how to evade every hit of HT specials, thats for sure, so it's a nightmare of them just building up power or me getting hit in the face), when they're in Armor mode keep hitting their block to build up energy, then use specials for mega damage.

I'm doing that... but my specials don't seem to be all that powerful so I have to do multiple ramp ups and if the Defender does a single light intercept during their aggresive fury state, I'm instantly dead from one or two hits. It doesn't help that I naturally have a Class Disadvantage the first three fights, and none of my Science champs seem to be up to the task.

I fear using resources at this point (rather than just starting over) to get to Absorbing Man but then just being obliterated by him. On Threat Level 4 I had to blast my way with Hercules and America Chavez to do enough damage to circumvent the reviving he was doing. I'd have to get him down to under 10%, hoping that I didn't KO him in the process, and then let him kill my attacker so I can go in and do the last 10% with my own Absorbing Man on Attack, and that would still sometimes take 20 hits to knock him out so I could get the rewards.

So... any tips/tricks? What should I be doing? This was way harder than I was anticipating and it took me over an hour just to finally start to get past the first two defenders.

I used mercenary team, Domino and Abs mainly

I brought IHulk, Morbius, Overseer, Torch and Spot. IHulk did the Taskmaster fight tho Spot should be able to do it even with only 10 ruptures in the bank because of power shield. Mine was R4. A R3 can probably do it too. Spot also took the Crossbones fight. Everyone else was an easy fight with Morbius. Overseer took the Abs Man boss. Torch can do it too, and probably everyone else on the team as well.

Yeah I looked at who was Mercenary, but none of them are champs I have ranked up. My AbsMan and Domino are 6* R3, the rest of the Mercenaries are rank 1. No 7*s.

The Valkyrie path was quite easy with the science team. Scorpion+Silk+OG Hulk+Sandman+Titania. Dumbass me didn't read the path nodes till I got to QS about incinerate damage. Meh, still didn't have to use health potions or revives.

I was wondering (now that I’ve tried the path) if the incinerate path might’ve been easier for the all science path. I just assumed it was going to be harder from the nodes but doesn’t seem that way in practice.

Maybe I’ll start over and try the other path, tho I already had to use two revives on it because I was frustrated. Oh well, gotta get those 7* shards.

Surprised you didn't have to deal with Misty Knights constant purifies and evades.

I found the incinerate path much harder, because they constantly purified the incinerates after their specials…

So I thought, maybe I should prevent their specials and did the path with Doom… Only problem: the unblockables make it hard to find openings without them throwing their specials… Really tested my skill with a lot of intercepts involved…

But yeah, for me, doom was the best option.

Safe to say, it was the taskmaster path that I had to do with the all science team. Wasn’t that bad, to be honest… Hulk did most of the heavy lifting, thanks to the SP1 perma stun. (Except for taskmaster, where I went for SP3 -> SP2)

I brought a science team to the lower path. Built up Silk to an sp2 and it killed everyone. Then torch nova the abs man boss.

The armor up passive muted a lot of the special damage. Dropping specials while the fury passive was up worked for me.

Used the mercs for the BWDO path and then incinerate champs for the incinerate path. Sunspot, Bishop, Torch, Elsa, and Wiccan. The node does put incinerate on the defender when you hit them, but found it easier to keep up the incinerate more easily. Elsa also takes the QS fight pretty well.

Dude just use hulkling and Valkyrie. Can't understand why hardly anyone is able to easily complete week 2. I did it in less than 5 minutes of total gameplay. For abs, torch or Hulk is absolutely fine. Just a normal abs man fight but with falter, which HT can counter well

Did it with 7R1 Domino, R4 Yondu, R3 Critmonkey and 5/65 WeaponX and Luke Cage. Domino did 90% of the work on both paths, 45k heavys was decent enough vs abs 🧨💥🔥🔥🔥

This is possibly the most important bit of information here. Probably more important than the team you bring.

The defender has two phases that cycle. One when they get a huge fury and fight aggressive, the other when they get a huge armor and become incredibly passive.

Make sure you're using your specials when the defender is in the fury phase, otherwise the big boost you get to special damage is negated by the defender's armor up.

Surprisingly, I did learn that pretty quickly and was almost exclusively throwing specials while they were in the Fury phase, but none of my SP2s were hitting that hard. Heck, my R5 Ascended scorpions sp2 was only knocking like 30% health off.

I’ll start over and try again.

Or use a true damage champ?

Misty was a rough one for me.

I did the top path with an all science team. Jessica Jones was a nice fit for the nodes. She applies a bunch of weaknesses during opponent specials so they never got the debuff immunity up. Unstoppable against Quicksilver was also nice to help block some specials even if he went unblockable but that fight was a blur.

Scorpion was also good on the path and used him for Black Widow. Hulk took some strategy to time your stun lock but he worked for most of the Misty fight but she evaded between stuns mid-combo and threw a special. Morbius cleaned up on her and did Yondu well. My 5* Torch nova flames were plenty for Absorbing Man.

It definitely took a few practice runs to get a feel for the nodes though. The debuff shrug/immunity combined with the unblockable and the minimal damage without an incinerate up was a lot to manage.

I also found this one to be a bit annoying. My tolerance for challenging content was admittedly a bit on the low side since I just finished my Necro exploration yesterday.

Taskmaster was my issue, so luckily I could just keep re-starting. Finally lost patience and just stuck with a run where Silk got him down 70%, and finished him off with SpiderHam. Then I used a revive - which was also annoying - but brought silk back and she cleared most of the rest of the path. Caught a bad unstoppable when Absorbing man was at 20% with my Flamed On HT so had to finish him with other champs which was annoying given his healing.

The other path wasn’t bad - I just R2’d my 7* Sunspot yesterday and he cleared the bulk of the path. Elsa took down quicksilver pretty easily.

What level is your guys' Silk? I've got an R3 currently and she doesn't seem to be putting in much work with her attack/special damage on this path.

Sadly, I have no Human Torch, still, Scorpion R5 Ascended is my only high ranked science - will he be able to do this Absorbing Man or am I screwed.

    My silk is R4.

Not sure on your scorpion- maybe if you have despair maxed to reverse his healing?

Void was invaluable for me on the L5 run. Not before I wasted 300 Units trying. I'm a bit stubborn at times. lol

On the taskmaster path you can hit into the block to gain power. While they are in defensive mode get yourself ready for an SP2 as soon as they go Fury.

all science on the Valerie path .. spammed Scorpion SP1 as often as I could to deal with any unblockable craziness ..an otherwise easy go .. OG Hulk, Plastic Man, She Hulk, Scorpion and Silk.

this week is super easy. I am already done. Just use Domino and Absman. the node makes it super easy cause you gain power as you hit the opponents block. super easy especially with absman and his unblockable specials.

It's interesting that I also used your combination of champs(except photon) and found it relatively easy.

I used hulk to one shot taskmaster (mid diff)
Scorpion for black widow (mid diff)
    Hulk for Crossbones (low diff)
Silk for Human Torch (neg diff)

Silk particularly is really destructive when you time her specials right ✅️
