What do you all think of Guardian? I’m debating taking mine to rank 2 because he’s an absolute nuke paired with the HB relic. Not to mention he can hold his own on defense.
very tanky (high block prof, armor rating when duped), powerful sp2 nuke and a really solid defender as well. Have mine 7r2 sig 40 and he was doing awesome for me in BG
Being he's my top champ as a r5 six star ascended with vision relic, he's one hell of a monster on offense and defense as well, sometimes even having the right counter might just not be enough to stop my man in bgs. I have seen so many people with hulkling and galan die to my guardian in bgs. Don't forget he needs max sig to be hell of a defender at times
Disclaimer: This is opinion of someone who doesn't really value BGs.
I've always liked him and thought people underrated him after he was introduced. Even so, I probably haven't consistently used him in years, as other Tech champions and other class champions replaced what he could do.
But, I think the current consensus swinging in favor of Guardian is just due to his limited 7-star status, and how that reflects on Battlegrounds. It's not quite as drastic a rise as with Gambit (as I think Guardian is a top 10 Tech champion while Gambit is just an average Mutant champion). I am definitely glad that I left my Gambit at R1 despite other players being excited about R2 or R3 Gambit, as I saw no use for him in my roster outside of BGs and the BG's "Gambit bubble' was only good for 2-3 seasons.
Guardian does have the benefit of Defensive use (while Gambit has no defensive use), but I fully expect Guardian to get forgotten again within a year or two. Autoblock counter and shock immunities are becoming quite common in new champions who will soon enough be available in the Basic and Titan pools (I predict once Vox leaves the Titan pool and enters the basic I'm expecting more people to fall in love with Vox).
Once players are able to bring in 7R2 and 7R3 counters to a 7R3 Guardian, as opposed to doing it with a 6R4 or 6R5, his defensive menace is going to drop off drastically.
So ultimately deciding to rank him depends on whether you like BGs, whether the investment (rank up materials) is worth what you will use him for and how long you would get the ROI, and whether you'd like him vs some other R2 champion for non-BG content.

I seen a video on YouTube about him, gave him a try and wow, I was definitrly sleeping on him. He's awesome even unduped!
Vision relic is built around Heal Block, which he can't do.
