Aegon bugged?

So I just used aegon in two aq fights (no nodes on the defenders sound like they give that type of ability) and charged a heavy at the beginning of the fight. One vs kingpin and one vs torch. Somehow both times the defender bounced off my attack and took no damage and hit me with a combo to retaliate. Is aegon bugged or am I missing something?
