Questions on working of nodes (one in particular)

Recently came across the Arcane Zeal node(7.4.2 to be precise), which currently gives a 70% fury. A while back, it used to be Prowess with 80% increase in special attack damage.
But the champions don't seem to be hitting as hard as they used to. My doubts are:
1. Doesn't both Fury and Prowess increase the damage output of specials? I remember fury helping CGR's specials.
2. By numbers, I only see a 10% difference, why is there a such a big difference in the final output though (might as well add that Power shield 2.0 was a node too).
3. Would the outputs be same if the Prowess potency was 70% too?

The medium answer is that furies work off your base attack, not your modified attack. So if you have anything else modifying your attack (recoils, boosts, champ abilities, other nodes) it can dilute the effect you see from one fury.
So for example if your base attack is 1000 and there is just that arcane zeal fury it will add 70% attack so your modified attack is 1700. Nice and simple. a 70% increase
Now lets say your base attack is 1000, but you have on a 30% champion boost, and both double edge and liquid courage masteries maxed (+60% attack), so your modified attack is now 1900. You then get the 70% fury (still +700) to get modified attack of 2600. Which is only ~37% increased from your other modified attack.
Prowess works differently. I believe it is just a multiplier at the end of all the calculations. So if you have a 70% prowess you will just do 70% more damage. Not completely positive that is the exact mechanism for it but I believe that is how it works
Another complication is the champs that you are fighting and the nodes and abilities they have, along with if you crit or not. Some champs and nodes will have resistances which will reduce the damage you do, but crits can bypass a lot of those.
