Is Nimrod Good?

My alliance member swears up and down that Nimrod is an okay champion while I believe he is rather good. What do you think?

Against mutants except Bishop and Onslaught he's crazy

He's great when the opponent isn't shock immune. And if they get prowess and regen effects he's like Human Torch against mystics.

Damn, I'm actually surprised at the results considering all the current mutant meta defenders are immune to Nimrod (except for Domino). Onslaught Dust and Bishop, other than those three the only mutants I ever see on defense are Domino and (very rarely) Weapon X.

That’s really true, but I’m always happy when I see someone place Weapon X on defence. Nimrod fodder.

Well, bgs aren't the only mode in the game. Nimrod is pretty weak in bgs nowadays, but he is still useful outside bgs, like war and regulat questing.

Also most players actually don't play bg, since Bgs require a lot of time and effort, and is quite Frustrating.

People pigeonhole him as a mutant killer but he is much more versatile than that. Where everyone was complaining about Kindred in the side quest, i was soloing him with my Nimrod. As long as the opponent is not shock immune, you can use Nimrod..if the opponent gains regen then even better.

Only two things have changed since Nimrod stopped being the best tech champion - more mutant defenders have come with kits that bypass Nimrod and he doesnt hold his own on defense like he could. It is like every dominant champion, Kabam has brought in counters to reduce the effectiveness. Doesnt suddenly make him mid. He is still a top 3 tech champion and will likely remain that way for a while

Yeah, I use him against defenders lik sasquatch and bullseye if I have no option left.he gets the job done.

Not for BG tho…his specials are easy to dex, and the few mutant defenders that players use - Nimgod is not that guy 🫡
  • ErcarretErcarret Member Posts: 2,907 ★★★★★
He's the best option for every mutant in the game except, like, three. Two of which are the latest to be released.

The problem is that Kabam didn't seem to know what to do with the mutant class after he was released and absolutely crushed even mutants released after him, so they just stopped releasing mutants. Due to this, mutants stopped being meta relevant, and due to that, Nimrod in turn stopped being meta relevant since he had no one left to fight.

I still have him in my BG deck since it's always good to have him on hand if the opponent does decide to bring a mutant champ (other than Dust, Onslaught and Bishop). I had to fight a Toad recently and missed Nimrod something fierce since I got absolutely nuked. If you draft Nimrod, you effectively tell the opponent that they can forget to pick up any mutants for their team - with three exceptions. It's similar to how you can't pick any mystic defenders if the opponent drafts a Human Torch because you know he'll nuke them.

Nimrod is still badass, regardless of 3 mutants he can't take in the entire game.

BG's isn't the only content in the game.

I still use him in bg's, he just doesn't get drafted as much as he used to.

Bgs to risky for him and not many paths he’s good for in war sure questing but so many champs are good in questing not really the best way to judge a champ

Hes starting to feel like Apocalypse in BGs. Great quester, but not someone I’d run in my deck with all these anti nimrod mutants we have now

You don't need a counter for Weapon X if you can intercept. You could make an argument for Domino cause of crit failure but Weapon X can be countered by anyone really.

anyone saying he is not good for BG's or any game mode probably don't use him that much coz couple days ago i fought a R5A bullseye and came out with 85%+ health and it only took one sp2 to finish the fight (my nim is R5A)
the only matchups he can't do are onslaught and bishop (sand is not used as much as these )

I disagree, BGs is the most important game mode and I'm pretty sure most people would agree.
If you look at every tier list made by every cc out there they're all BGs oriented, most if not all MCOC streams on YouTube and Twitch are strictly BGs. This wouldn't be the case if most people didn't play BGs like you say, BGs is probably the only game mode that most of the playerbase plays even if it's just a few matches a day due to time.

As for Nimrod, I'm not saying he's bad (probably should've specified) he's just mid for BGs cause Kabam has been creating defenders that are completely immune to him. Would I add him to my deck just for Domino and the occasional Weapon X? Nah, Red Skull Guardian and Shuri are overall better for BGs, better dual threats and still very good damage output even if they aren't as quick as Nimrod for any of those two.

But I always found his AI becoming super wierd once he becomes unblockable. Sometimes he is passive, sometimes his aggressive.

Also Raw damage champs suck against him cuz of regen. Dot/Burst champs can easily take him tho

Can guardian or redskull do bishop?
I'm still looking for good tech counters to him and my top techs right now are shuri, Nimmy and starky.

Last time I used starky against him wasn't fun because I got clipped by that sp2, lol

Legit asking cause I do have a 6* RS as well as a 7r1 guardian so if they can do bishop anywhere near decently, I may change my deck up a bit.

Red Skull is definitely a no, Guardian I haven't tried in BGs but I do have a teammate with a r2 Guardian and he used to take Bishops in war all the time with him with zero issues. I don't know 100% if he would work in BGs just as well but I can tell you in war at least he definitely worked so he should work just as well in BGs, and speaking of the sp2 Guardian's perfect block makes it so you can block Bishop's sp2 fully with zero health loss even if he's at 30 prowess and unblockable doesn't matter, which is great.

Guardian is ok at best. Bishop has high energy resistance though and Guardian deals energy damage. Red Skull inflicts Shock on sp2

Sparky? You completed the CCP challenges? Never knew!

I think max sig guardian works, because of his insane energy resistance, and perfect block chance. But 7* one can't have max sig so I'm not sure.

It's all about spacing, but I know what you mean. Sometimes he'll dash in, sometimes he'll just slowly run towards you and throw a light out of nowhere. I think the best way is to always keep your distance, that's what I do and I rarely get clipped by him nowadays.
I just don't let him get too close, if you struggle a bit though then yeah I can see this being another reason to have Nimrod in your deck.

Yeah but you don't really need any of these if you're good at fighting him is all I'm saying. I know he's Nimrod food but why would I want Nimrod strictly for him if I can already take him out with other regular champs it'd be a wasted slot in my deck.
