What decides rank up options per * level?

New to forums so please forgive me if this is not the right way to ask this.. but I was curious what decides whether or not you can rank up a champion with units.

Ie: I can rank up a 5* champ with units but not 6* etc.

Is it a story progress thing? Do I have to have a certain number of 6* already at the higher rank?

    it’s both a story progression thing and a game balance thing. there’s a catalyst section of the store where you can buy catalysts based on your progression, with higher progressions having more catalysts and lower prices. some catalysts are not in the store at all for any progression level, mostly the higher end ones like tier 4 alphas

    K good to know, is there any chart or forum anywhere that you know of that covers the unit rank up option specifically? I'm curious what tier I have to be to be able to fast track 6* champs.

    i don’t know of any, but i would not recommend using units to rank champions really, you’re better off saving them for bigger offers like july 4th or cyber weekend. much better value for your units

    Yeah fair, I just spent money for the first time on poolies and got all these extra units, would be really handy to use em on my 6*s
