Lol I’m watching his stream rn and heard him say that a little while ago. And yea, I rolled my eyes. I don’t necessarily think it’s laziness on kabam’s part, but she does not come anywhere close to the 4/5 damage she’s supposed to have.
I know a lot of people like DLL for his champ designs, and I respect the effort he puts in, but damn do I disagree with so many things he says. I get that as a designer he’s gonna be strict on what he thinks is “too strong,” but he has called Kingpin broken, he said today that he thinks Cheeilth and Onslaught have too good of heavy reach, and that they went too far with them. Then he defends every new mid champ with arguments like what he said for sable that are just so blatantly untrue. He literally assumes that everyone who comments on sable doesn’t use her, which means he thinks barely anyone actually plays her lmao.
But the irony of it all is that he’s who designed serpent, the biggest meta breaker of them all. Ok rant over.
While I also sometimes tend to disagree with DLL, let's talk about the 3 champions you mentioned. KP is nowhere near as broken as he was, say a yr ago, but upon rework he was. Next, Cheeilth & Onslaught, both their heavies do have a ridiculous heavy reach. More Cheeilth than Onslaught, imo, but again he's not wrong. As much I enjoy using OG hulk, his rework, especially the sp1 stun lock is also busted. He's not advocating for those things to be changed now, he's just stating both, his opinion & what he thinks is his truth. While I'll agree with him, you don't have to, but if you look at it from as an impartial observation w/out investment, you might agree too. Lastly, as for serpent, I'd be willing to bet he probably think he needs a defensive tune down. I'm not trying to "white knight" for DLL, he's just speaking from a game standpoint & sees the whole picture. Where as us as the community, have a tendency to balk at champion changes, especially when it comes to changes that would effect champions we use in possibly the way others deem "busted"
The problem with not advocating for broken champs to be changed and advocating for new champs to be mid instead is that the game's meta will remain the same, the broken champs will stay at the top and a lot of people won't have any interest in the newer ones cause they can't compete with the ones at the top. It's easy to see why some people would disagree with DLL there, I disagree too cause the meta staying the same with the same top broken champs year after year is starting to bore me to death.
There are a lot of paragraphs being written here. The keys things for you Kabam,
Why give her 4/5 on damage output if she actually is NOT able to come anywhere near it in a fight ? If this is her intended target..you need to fix her..if its not the intended target just say we made a mistake.
When you do the rebalance, I urge you to pull out the player data and check actually how many people are using her in story/Battlegrounds etc. The data should prove what the people are talking about right now.
She is a noodle right now and there needs to be a tune-up. I do understand every champ is not supposed to be a BG demon in attack or defense. Even then in regular story content use..even ramped up there isn't enough damage. This criteria alone should be enough to give her a second look.
The issue is that Sable doesn't have anything that makes her stand out. Damage is cheeks, utility is cheeks, playstyle is unique with the field effects but is done better by Arcade and Leader.
Like with most of the champions this year, they have a use in a field in the game and while they don't exactly have the best damage, they have a place.
White Tiger is a great power control champ, Bullseye is a utility and defensive machine, Ironheart provides some great utility to the tech class, Dust has good damage and has become a staple defender, The Serpent like Bullseye is a utility and defensive machine and very fun champ to play, Destroyer has great damage and defensive potential, Prowler also has great damage and utility, Spider-Punk has surprisingly great damage, Negasonic checks a lot of skill matchups, Northstar has insane damage in long fights, Arcade is a decent defender and has decent damage but is a very fun champ to play, Patriot is a strong Photon counter and has great damage and The Leader is broken in Regeneration and Power Gain matchups.
Bear in mind I'm basing some of these summaries based on what I have seen as I don't own some of these champions, but I own Sable as a 7* and the small amount of utility she has paired with her terrible damage leads me to use other champions that don't even check the champions she was designed to counter solely because they can get it done quicker with less hassle.

NONE AND I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NONE OF these champions have "GREAT DAMAGE" I know this is beyond the point you were trying to make but I just couldn't let you say that I'm sorry. Ignore me Lmao

As a WT fan she may not be the top mystic but her damage is great. I know it’s one example but she can close out r3 Sasquatch’s as fast as science nukes and if that doesn’t mean great damage, idk what does
Also this is getting into semantics and from a bg standpoint most champs lack damage and are disappointing but there are champs there with great damage. Northstar has great damage and so does destroyer. Unfortunately their loops are bad and you won’t get to use that damage potential much. Patriot had good damage too but he also seems to need to get going. So it’s a combination of bad damage champs combined with “takes a long time to get great damage” champs (northstar, destroyer, patriot)
Lol I’m watching his stream rn and heard him say that a little while ago. And yea, I rolled my eyes. I don’t necessarily think it’s laziness on kabam’s part, but she does not come anywhere close to the 4/5 damage she’s supposed to have.

The statement about kp was something he said around a month or two ago. I don’t exactly remember when, but definitely not past 2 months ago. Additionally, unless I misunderstood, he was talking about kp in the game right now, not when his buff was released. Kp isn’t even seen in the higher tiers of the game because inequity wrecks his damage. I point it out because I find the complaint about kp ironic coming from the designer of Kate Bishop, a far more broken champ.
With cheeilth & onslaught im not disagreeing about their heavy reach being massive, im saying I don’t see how it causes problems. Both their play styles call for heavy countering heavies, so they highly benefit from a long heavy reach. I just find it awfully strange that DLL would see this as a problem instead of a bonus towards their kit.
OG Hulk I actually agree with, I think it’s a little bit cheesy that he can consistently stunlock fairly large healthpools just by reaching almost an sp2. The ai only has about 10 seconds where they can actually do something before they’re just completely shut off, it’s pretty nuts. I do think it’s a bit op, but it’s fine because it doesn’t completely break the meta like serpent does as a champ. It’s great in bgs but still takes 40-45s which is beatable, it’s not like he shuts down fights AND nukes them in 25s. There’s a time cost that comes with it, that’s why he’s not sweeping the meta with stunlock.
I understand that he’s not advocating for these champs to be changed in game for balance. I have no issue with him stating his opinion, but I find those statements hypocritical when he introduces a champ who as I said, completely breaks the meta balance even at the highest of tiers.
I don’t know what his opinions are on how balanced serpent is, so I won’t speak on that. If he admits that he thinks he went too far with serpent’s design, then more respect to him. But from what I’ve watched of him I wouldn’t expect it.
I don’t think that his opinion becomes more correct because he’s a dev who has more info. Everyone has inherit bias, and he as a dev would be biased towards Kabam’s side just like we as the community are biased towards pro-player decisions. To say that his opinion is more impartial than a community member’s just because he is a dev, is logically incorrect. Him being a dev has no effect on his level of bias, only which side he stands on.
As far as serpent goes, a lot of my arguments against DLL are because of the existence of serpent. As a dev I totally expect him to be strict on balance, and that’s totally understandable. But then he designs a champ that goes completely against the arguments he stands by. His opinions on game balance only seem to apply to when it’s helpful to the community, and not when it benefits Kabam. I don’t believe he’s impartial, because I have not once seen him disagree with something kabam has done when it’s against the playerbase, only the other way around. And it becomes even further exaggerated when he starts to make claims like the one he made with sable just assuming that those who complain about her damage just clearly haven’t played her. It’s such a wild assumption to bunch everyone who disagrees with him on that point into one group just to defend a lackluster champ. It’s statements like these that make it hard for me to believe he’s impartial.
TLDR: I don’t have a problem with him stating his opinion, it’s fact that his actions through his champ designs directly contradict the opinions he uses, and that his opinions only seem to apply when they help kabam, and not the community.

My r2 7* Ironheart hits like a r4 6* when she gets bad armor RNG, that's great damage what do you mean 😎
"A lot of people complaint about her damage but the people who have her ranked and sigged tell damage isn't really an issue If you're hoping for a damage increase what leave that hope What exactly a tune up on her would be But I'm not speculating anything"
Woah just woah, sable might not get buffed because she has what 2 fans that say she's good?
Iron fist has a few fans who say his damage is good might as well not buff him! This laziness is incredibly insane and honestly insulting to the community, so many champs that came out recently needed tune ups like dust and ironheart but kabam just couldn't be bothered,
sable is a champ who honestly is not that good, with some utility I guess and way below average damage that takes awhile to ramp up and even then it's not good!
She deserves to be a skill shuri I honestly just want a tiny damage increase but guess what DLL I like uhhh what would we even do?
DO U UNDERSTAND HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THIS COMMUNITY WOULD GIVE YOU A PERFECT BUFF CONCEPT!
DLL I'm a fan of your champs but honestly this was crazy, stop making champs that turn off masteries and actually put effort into the game
#GIVESABLEWHATSHEDESERVES!!!!
Also cmon yall look at that so called psychoman buff like cmon look me in the eye and tell me that was good 😢
This is not just about sable this is about the countless times kabam has out a terrible buff and or neglected to even give a champ a buff!
Give this post some love, kabam has got to listen to the community sometime
From everything he said about balancing in his stream, this is the only take u have.. wow thats kinda dissapointing. I was in the same stream and he just made an example, that her damage is higher that some might think. he never implied if she would have a damage buff or not.
just wait and see. Till now i think almost all reworks have been good, so lets just expect the same of this one (if its coming).
I only saw this quote from a friend didn't watch the whole stream busy atm will take this into consideration
You have the gall to post on the forums insulting members of our staff, calling US lazy, when you couldn't even be bothered to watch the source material that is the base of your insults?

Nothing is exempt, this game would not be where it is without communication between the developers and the player's praises and criticisms.
