Is rebalance dead?

Rebalance program 2024:
Bullseye: 1 slight defensive nerf, 1 bug fix. No offencive rebalance
White tiger: no changes
Dust: no changes
Iron heart: no changes
Destroyer: no changes
Serpent: no changes

Just compare this whit last year and it seems like they don't wanna work or the fired all the testers 😭😭

And it's the way absolutely none of them excluding maybe white tiger and dust are in the conversation when we talk about good/ decent offensive champions 😭
Seeing as no one is getting changes you'd think they were actually great champions

I think there are three things to consider:

First, it is possible that the team has just gotten better at champ design. The champs they make are folding into the game well and they see no reason to adjust from their original design. Probably not accurate across the board, but it's not a totally crazy idea.

Second, as the game progresses and adds more and more champs, each individual champ is likely to have a smaller impact on the game than the champs that came before it. There are more champs available to counter each new champ as they come. Serpent still should've been tuned down, but the majority of the data they've been seeing has probably been players choosing the handful of ideal counters he has.

Third, they literally only made the program so that if they ever made another Hercules or Kitty they would have the wiggle room to make changes without the player base crying foul because now they're saying it can happen. If it ain't broke, they're probably not gonna fix it. Since the beginning, it's been less about balancing and more about saving them from their own mistakes. We just happen to benefit a little bit here and there.

They are clearly trying to combat power creep by releasing underwhelming champions instead of a very powerful one every month like last year, but still that doesn't justify that they wanna allow all the bad interactions between serpent and the current."counters" just bc they want you to buy the perfect counter they are gonna release

The function of the balance program is to prevent a new Herc. If small tweaks can be made, they probably will but that doesn't make them any new money.

I'm definitely not trying to justify their inaction. Whatever they choose is going to be disappointing for some and exciting for others, but consistently doing nothing, to your original point, is just disappointing all around. Not to mention the time that it's taking them to do nothing. Yes, it's about data collection, but why do they need more data than they did before to do less than they did before?

In my years playing, Kabam has had a habit of coming out with grandiose ideas that get the player base excited, then after a couple months they take their foot off the gas because they either bit off more than they could chew or got distracted by something else. Their history of follow through is pretty rough. Remember multiple champ reworks a month? Remember periodic and consistent updates to glory and loyalty stores? Remember masteries 2.0? Great ideas that got players excited, but now only serve as consistent disappointment. The rebalance program fits the bill...except for the fact that 99% of the player base didn't want it when they announced it and would still prefer that Kabam spend their time on fulfilling their other ideas instead.

So the fact they don't feel the need to make changes means the program is dead? Think about what you're saying.

MCOC community - The team never tests anything. They're always rebalancing champions and I never know to rank someone.

Also the MCOC community - rebalancing is dead because 1 of 6 champs received a slight tweak.

Give me a break. Make your mind already.

I think it was in 2023, look at the sincere thought they put into Abs, Zeno, Shuri and Shocker for example… but somewhere along the way something happened and now they seem unable to constructively evaluate new releases for over 6 months

Destroyer, Serpent and Ironheart are decent offensive champs though

Considering that the rebalance post looks like it’s typed out by Chat GPT and is out of touch, yes. Their β€œdata” seems to be a big joke and when you have a massive chunk of the community calling you out including every big content creator, you’ve messed up. Can’t wait for them to not address it

That’s because this venue is as dead as the rebalance program for meaningful engagement

I think it’s good to highlight the last meaningful nerf was to Shocker because of how he handled glancing and armors, which I know was branded as a bug fix, but let’s be honest an attacker was over performing and we can’t have that

I don't really see a need for any (more) balancing for any of the champions you mentioned. There are some tweaks I would have liked to see for Dust and Serpent, but I can live without them. I did like the defensive nerf for Bullseye and I've never thought he needed an offensive buff. His damage is perfectly fine. Not mind-blowing by any means, but his ability to consistently damage champions with miss in their kits without having to play around or wait things out, ups his damage significantly in certain matches.

The only champ I don't really have an opinion about is Ironheart. I don't have her myself and have barely even fought her since release since no one ever ranks her up.

It is stuff like this that makes it easy to not justify giving them money anymore.

Just FYI, the forums/discord is not a "massive" chunk of the community.

Rebalance means with all the data kabam have & there expectation. Are they matching or not for the long term .there is a reason this is 10th year of this game.
Players will always want game breaking attacker but bad defenders .
I am in my 8+ year so I love defence heavy champ more than attackers 🀷.

Can we rebalance the rebalance program?

Depends on if almost 2 years is enough data to make an accurate estimate of how it's current state is impacting the game.
