The issue with AI isn't exactly harder AI

Yes we all know that AI has evolved over the years, it has become harder to fight against now compared to even 6 months ago
Most players are complaining about harder AI but is the issue really about harder fights?
Maybe not, there are a few aspects to harder AI, the first is the reward aspect
Fights that used to be easier are now becoming much harder but the rewards have remained the same
You are getting the same rewards for harder fights but the value of the rewards are diminishing over time
Rewards inflation has set in for Valiant players, the rewards doesn't make a big difference to Valiant players
Secondly is the inherent design of the combat system
Just to give a reference, I believe most people have played Street Fighter
There is CPU Level 8, the highest and hardest AI you can fight against in Street Fighter
CPU Level 8 is capable of punishing human players for a small mistake with a combo
That is what is happening in MCOC now, you make a small mistake, you get hit with a 5 hit combo, AI also gets longer health pool and higher attack damage, this makes it worse
But nobody complains about CPU Level 8 Akuma who can fight better than most human players bcos in Street Fighter, there is a counter for everything
If the AI keeps blocking, you punish the AI with a projectile if you are using Ryu for example
In MCOC, the combat system is primarily melee in nature
It is a flawed combat system, there is no counter to AI blocking and doing nothing unless you champion is unblockable like Adam Warlock
You have to hit the AI and the AI can now parry all your hits or dex your hits and counterattack with a light attack or intercept your attacks
The AI can refuse to throw specials until special 3 and let you take unavoidable damage
The AI can avoid making any mistakes for you to take advantage of by just blocking and waiting for you to make the move and counter your move
You can't shoot projectile like Ryu in Street Fighter to punish blocking, this makes blocking the most safest move for AI
AI knows that and therefore you can see blocking most of the time bcos it is the best move for AI to make
Can the combat system in MCOC be changed, that is nearly impossible
The AI is also unlikely to be tuned down
The only fair thing about AI is that it goes both ways in battlegrounds, the AI is helping your defender more survivable
It used to be that your defender is utterly useless bcos the AI was so bad in combat
Now the AI is making your defender win fights against your opponents
Perhaps what players can do is to pick defenders that work best with the current AI
Champions like Domino is harder to fight now than ever before
