Unspoken Secrets in Top Tier Gaming

This is what I learnt from game developers from other games I played
You may have noticed that not all champions are created the same
In MCOC, there are different sizes, S M L XL
Some champions carry weapons and use them in combat
In theory, the bigger the champion, the bigger the advantage
Let me explain in simple terms, the reach of the bigger champion is further than the reach of the size S champion.
Quite obvious right, one punch from juggernaut will cover more distance than one punch from rocket raccoon
In practical terms, juggernaut can easily light intercept every attack from everyone simply bcos the punch will hit the enemy before the enemy can hit juggernaut's body
Notice I said body, yes the way game developers design the combat system is that you hit the body and not the limbs of the enemy for a successful hit
This is why onslaught has a build in advantage when both champion exchanges punches, most of the time you get hit by onslaught simply bcos onslaught is bigger than you
Another advantage is those carrying weapon like Guillotine, the long sword extends the reach although game developers have limited to the middle of the sword as the furthest reach for guillotine
Yondu is another champion with a unique weapon, the flying arrow actually extends the reach of Yondu without exposing Yondu's body to attack, this is why the Yaka Arrow is used in the first and third light attack, heavy and special attacks, this is to limit the advantage of Yondu, medium attack with the arrow would be theoretically invincible

That's an interesting theory, but I imagine there's something in the code that prevents it from being like this (to some extent). Ofc, some do reach further and have a bigger "advantage" but I think it's such a small difference that it doesn't affect gameplay much.

Well in top tier competitive gameplay like Battlegrounds where every % of health matters and every second counts, such "small" advantage actually can mean victory or loss
It's like Olympic swimming, where the high tech swimsuit will cut milliseconds off your time and the difference between Gold and Silver medals is that few milliseconds

Which is why game developers have limited the use of the Yaka Arrow and Guillotine's sword furthest reach is the mid length of the sword
The distance the Yaka Arrow travels is also limited to lower the advantage of Yondu
    Game developers also know this

But all of this is extremely obvious, just pay attention to the game, there is no secret to it.
But you are wrong in thinking that big champions have an advantage.
In fact, because they take up more space on the screen, it is more difficult to bait the opponent with a special, especially if it is XL against XL.
And it is not as simplistic as you are making it out to be. All champions have the command to advance and retreat, but some are faster than others.
Some champions do two attacks in the first medium, like Domino. This allows most champions to do a light dash at the end of her medium animation.
Killmonger has a longer forward dash animation, so it is possible to do a hit at the end of his animation, depending on the champion, it can be a medium or a light.
The speed of the light and medium champions are also different.
I personally think that in the future Kabam will explore this more and make a faster XL champion, for example.
The game is more complex than it seems. Most people know all of this, but few stop to ask why.

Let me give a simple example
Hulkbuster fist is so big and covers so much distance that pro players are able to chain multiple heavy attacks on the opponent and there is nothing the AI can do about it except take the punches

The hit range & reach is fixed for a character so some M size champ light will have small reach but onslaught reach will be a little far but both are inside a box range

Another example is trying to intercept Onslaught first medium
His two claws stretched forward, creating distance between you and his body
Don't you feel that it is slightly harder to intercept than other smaller champions?

Sarcasm right?HulkyB's heavy reach is god awful
Don't tell him about Moleman's heavy reach. One of the biggest secrets in the game. The big guy swinging the little guy gives him a huge advantage.

It's easier to light intercept with juggs because he's near permanently unstoppable lmao
