A question on Count Nefaria (I know I've been posting a lot, so thanks everyone on commenting)

Sorry for all the posts for anyone that's noticed, I've been playing the game for about 8 years now and I go through these waves of loving it (usually around now and summer) and then taking extended breaks. When I come back I tend to like to see what I've missed or what, in general is going on.

I recently pulled Count Nefaria who I have to say, is an extremely fun and seemingly very powerful champion (probably my favorite new champion so very grateful for the pull!). With this said, from this months event, I have also taken a liking to BG but, it seems like he's completely nullified by the un-phased mastery. Is there anyway around this in BG or is this just not a place where he can be reliably (I'm thinking about taking him to R3 but I'm kind starting to rank things up based on there use in BG)?

Thanks again everyone!

There are a few threads on this, but you can get around un-fazed in BG's by just parrying the specials. The longer option is to throw a couple of sp1's before building to the sp2. You gain build-ups when they cross a bar of power, when they regen, or if they gain power by other means.

I don't have an issue with using him in BG's. People automatically write him off because of the unfazed issue, but he's still pretty good against some of the meta defenders and can be used on defense in emergency situations because of his high physical resistance when he has charges built up and goes into ionic overcharge.

Thanks for commenting, when you say parry the specials, do you mean to just activate the evade and just not follow up?

no he means parry the specials. it is built in his kit. if you parry the last hit of a special attack lets say doom sp2 if you parry that beam then he will evade and it gives him extra charge buildup. what he is saying dont parry basic attacks cause if the unfazed mastery triggers while evading basic attacks you may get clipped but while parry evading specials the mastery wont matter much or atleast that is my guess

It's safer to parry the specials from a distance because the counter attack doesn't land and gives you time to block if needed. You want to avoid parrying Sassy's specials while in wrath because he's already unstoppable. same with Juggs when he has momentum, or Wong when he has 2 or more blue spells up.

The more you play him, the more situations/matchups you'll feel comfortable in taking. I view him like Starky. Takes some time to ramp, but once he is, the damage output makes up a lot of time.

I see, I haven't experienced this yet, but if you parry/evade a basic, the unstoppable is to fast to block if un-fazed triggers?

    Typically it is

Ok, so what I gather, at least in battle ground he's still a (somewhat) viable character but if you really want to be safe, its best to build a couple special ones and really stick to parrying specials and if you have to parry a basic, maybe just hold block in case the unstoppable triggers?

I actually can't believe how frustrating that mastery can be, especially because its over a 50/50 chance of procting.
