Banquet/Units Question

How does spending units relate to getting points for the Banquet event? Does spending units directly earn us points, or does spending units on the banquet crystals (and maybe other things?) earn points, or does just opening the crystals earn points and the best/easiest way to get crystals is by spending units?

This is my first banquet event.

    Opening crystals earns points and you spend units to get the crystals.

    Last year, buying and opening GBC earn you 2800 points each crystal.

    Watch previous year banquet videos in YT , you can assume this year's that event. Like You iam also excited for this banquet .
