Torch pre-fight ability

I was playing the crucible today, and managed to reach super skrull with 16 revives that I have saved up. I went to use my human torch with the pre fight and lost. I revived him and my pre fight was no longer there. I really don't understand why it has to go away after one match. I really feel like it should stay until you finish the entire fight. It would still be fair since you could only use it for one fight per quest.
This is insanely frustrating as a f2p player. Now I have to do it all over again.

It has always been that way, nothing new there. Having him awakened and max sig does allow you to get it back for a future fight, but not the same fight that you just lost. F2P has nothing to do with that

Simple answer is because that is how Torch's kit is designed.
If he's awakened, he has a chance each fight to get it back.
You need to keep in mind how absurdly powerful his prefight is. There's one champ in the entire game used to it. The damage is crazy, the heal control is crazy, everything about it is really powerful. In most cases, the opponent doesn't survive his prefight.
There's nothing wrong with the design of it going away after the fight regardless of the outcome.

Torch is still usable without prefight you don't have to restart

Torch's prefight is insanely broken, making it stay for multiple fights would just make it even worse
