Shathra: My Thoughts

I’ve seen a lot of people asking about Shathra recently. I just took mine to rank 2. I think she is phenomenal. Great counter to some tough and broken defenders that stay broken every meta…I think we all know who I’m talking about. Anyway, her damage output feels really solid. Usually an SP1 kills unless I’m fighting a r3 then the SP2 usually does the trick. That unblockable sp2 from the heavy charge is so awesome - even if the hit of the heavy misses, the opponent (AI) can be swinging and you know the SP2 will make contact and has pretty good range. The only thing I will say is that her play style is a bit risky because of the delay time in charging the heavy to gain power. I wonder if this might could be fixed by either
1. Not having the slow ramp in power gain on the heavy charge
2. *****Special lock the opponent while charging the heavy so that you don’t get smacked in the face by their special
3. Or you could have her special lock the opponent when a bar of power is gained for a set amount of time (like half a second or less) - just enough to get the rotation off without having to bait out the opponent’s special.

Anyway, tell me your thoughts. Overall I think she is very solid, design is GREAT. Her play style is seamless, just risky in certain situations because of the stated above. Synergies and pre fight might could do with something different but surely is nice to have when you have spider ham on your team.

I stared (*) fix two as I really think it would be the perfect fix - fix 3 is just a different re-iteration of fix 2

You can parry and charge heavy if that works

If you’re not fighting someone like serpent that’s gaining three bars of power every half second this might work…but if they get to an sp3 and you start charging that heavy…

I think another issue is that she gains power but steals very little to the point that her specials push them over

That’s why I think the special lock would solve the problem. Heavy special lock into sp2, then heavy special lock into sp1, then heavy special lock back into another sp1 or sp2. However, this still retains the “risky” playstyle allowing the opponent to attack into the heavy and get hits, and cancel the power gain. When she was on defense, although special locked, you would still be able to dex heavies and the specials and then just throw your own specials when she wasn’t charging heavy…unless the AI decides to start to take advantage of such
