Wong worthy of r3 for Necro #10 yr challenge?

I wanted to knock this challenge out next and I'm putting my team together. I have Wong at a natural sig 80 and r2. From what I've read so far, Wong puts in the most work on the full path for this challlenge. I see people posting that they used him for a majority of the fights. I've 100% Necro already, but used Aegon for that. I didn't use Wong for my runs when I explored it when it came out.

I'm not worried about r3 rank up materials as I have enough to r3 2 champs in my overflow, 3 generic 2->3 gems, and 1 mystic 2->3 gem. I can freely r3 a bunch of champs, so I'm not worried about speding resources on one champ for specific content. I'm not sure how much I'd use him after the Necro run, but I'm not too worried about that. I have Kush, Chavez, and Spiral at r3 already, and am not saving for x, y, or z champ as I have almost all of the usual suspects that I could r3 from the mystic pool such as Shathra, Sassy, Juggs, Rintrah, Kindred, WT etc etc. I don't have Enchantress yet, but I'm not saving materials for when I pull her.

So the question is, is the additional rank a big deal for Wong? Will it make a big difference with the extra rank as far as ending fights quicker and being able to take more punches to the face? If it's a big difference, then I'll gladly rank him up. But, if the difference isn't all that noticeable, I could leave him at r2 and put the resources into someone that I'll use more outside of Carina's challenges.

So what's everyone's opinions?

Did you try him at R1 before he was R2?

I just did my completion yesterday with a r2 and he worked great for me. Could a r3 have helped me spend less items? Sure. But I got through it just fine

No, haven't really done anything with him since pulling him 5x. My Necro runs were 99% Aegon.

    I did it with R2. That’s enough

I did it with a 200 sig 6R5, not ascended, and thats pretty much a R2. More than enough.

Any rotations? I'm struggling a lot to solo Titania with my r2 Wong. I didn't get the free 7* Chee'ilth cause I stupidly spent my tokens on mysterium. Here's my champs. I basically just use the 7*s.

I specifically took Wong to r3 for this this weekend because I couldn't do a solo well against Titania with a r2. His large health pool is much more forgiving as a r3. I took specials, full-on combos to my face, and only every died when captain Britain hit me with a 25 prowess special. I too didn't care about r3 mats. If you truly don't, then I would suggest taking him to r3. I also never plan to use him again. And I will be taking she hulk and Thanos to r3 also just for Necro too.

I really don't care about the materials since i have so much in my overflow. Also, if we hit a couple more milestones in the realm event, I'll have 2 more t4's going into the overflow. You also make good points about Thanos and She Hulk rank ups for that Carina's challenge.

    Not the same as R2

I did it with a rank 2 Wong and he soloed every fight he fought. R3 not needed.

I believe only 3 fights he wasnt used. Used Cheelith for Titania, Vox for Psycho, and Ham for Tigra.

Doesnt need r3, but you'll want boosts for your fights. R2 possible to titania solo, it'll be up to you if you wanna do the fight over and over until you get the solo or just use a revive on a good 80% hp run. I choose the latter lol

Yeah I did try r1 first. You won't be soloing every fight. I'd say half you'll need to revive at r1.

R2 is enough but needs boosts for some fights to get a solo, like without boosts no matter how many fights I did against titania i could only get her down to 30-35% but with the boosts got a solo. Since he is awakened he should be able to do every fight except for psyco man (if ur going down apocalypse lane)

R2 with boosts can solo like everything, please don’t waste resources on the r3 unless you really love him

What specific boosts are we talking about here? I don't want to rank Wong up if he doesn't need to be ranked

Medium boosts: Champion 20% and Attack 15%
That's all. I used those as we get in surplus.

Don't even need the big boy Greater boosts.
If you have extra then sure, use those.
