Instant special 3 in bg fights

in Bugs and Known Issues
During a bg round in Gladiator circuit I faced a Domino and a Count Naferia and both fights each defender used a special 1 and instantly gained 3 bars of power after I used my special one. Is this some hidden exploit in the node?
