Why Gladiator burst damage was changed to energy?

I don't have a problem with that, i'm just curious why direct damage burst was changed to energy damage burst

I got soo used to it that even forgot It was part of his buff, only remembered that beaucase i saw Bishop taking less damage from the burst than other characters

Did they say somewhere that it was changed, or was it just always energy damage and it just wasn't that noticeable?
Edit: just checked auntm.ai, which hasn't been updated in quite a few months, and his burst is listed as energy damage. So even if it changed at the time of his buff, it's been energy damage at least since his buff.

It wasn’t direct damage bursts pre-buff, it was physical. If I had to hazard a guess, the change from physical to energy damage was probably just to make him a bit weaker against mystics, since a lot of those tend to have negative physical resistance but high energy resistance.

Quick edit: just checked Gladiator’s champion spotlight, and it turns out it either was never updated when the buff went live or Kabam somehow accidentally reverted the page back to the pre-buff kit at some point. You can look at that and confirm that the burst damage was indeed physical before he was buffed.

So, it used to be Physical Burst, and got switched to Energy burst when Gladiator was buffed:

My guess is the visible rise of Energy resistance + Negative Physical resistance in the Mystic class, meaning that the switch to Energy damage will, by and large, make him less effective against Mystics.
