Question About Serpent

So I don't have him as a 7, never studied him much, and usually just ban him in BG.
But when I do fight him, I notice that sometimes he disables my dex ability during the SP1 leap into me, and sometimes I am able to dex it.
Can someone tell me what I should be looking for on the HUD to know if it's been disabled or not?

    When he does the sp1 you block the beam. After the beam ends you dash back twice and you can evade the last hit.

    Yes, but you can't punish it if you're far away. You need to either dex or block the last hit to punish.

    Don't try to dex it, instead when he jumps just dash back so he will whiff the last hit of sp1. And you fan still punish it.

    He is able to truly focus on his opponent, making them not able to dex.

    Nightcrawler and Dazzler can also dex Serpent's specials.

    You can't dex serpent's special at all. You can get out of the way of the last hit of his sp1 but that isn't dex. Spiral and Dodge his specials but that's not a dex.

    You can dex his specials, just not if he has his true focus

    also, spiral is able to dex his special while she has her dancing blades, she’s viable if you can play her right

    Dazzler too just doesn’t disable death immunity.
