Saying what most have thought at some point following updates

Yes I know that Kabam does live updates to the game, but I think most of the community would be ok with/support the idea of taking a weeks time for servers to go down to fix/attempt to assess and fix and the bugs and problems related to updates so that it doesn’t happen as often. I would rather see a well functioning game rather than the game have to go down or have a ton of issues after an update and then go months with little or no recognition and little to no compensation for the issues months later

Yes. I miss the game maintenance breaks from years before. They should reimplement such again

I think it would almost give people a reset before events. A lot of the time, even as an end game valiant player I find it tough to keep up and roll over from event to event

I think an announced maintenance break would ultimately be a good idea. It is wild that this game technically is up at all times.

I made a post i think a year or so back about this same issue. I said to even make it a monthly event quest so it gives the whole month. Have Forge be the the lead with HERBIE and just have basic stuff. You can even use that time as a a way to test all the game modes as well. I was laughed at and told that's not how the game workes by Jax Mike and there fan boys

How are they earning money? I know they’re a massive company but I can’t see them doing that.

As a business man I certainly wouldn’t have a week ‘break’ to fix stuff, because some people won’t come back, think about it outside of the forums, we are like maybe 2% of the community lol, most of the playerbase are casuals who even spend or just enjoy the game,

I mean lots of live service games have scheduled maintenance to implement bug fixes and features in both the free to play and paid game service sector. An in game message saying that the game is offline for six hours every six months when a good portion of the player base is asleep is not a bad idea.

So this will almost certainly never happen. First, the people who fix bugs and do technical improvements on the back end are not the same people who design champions and content, so pausing content production would have a minimal effect on bug fixes. Second, there is no reason to shut down the servers for a week to do bug fixes; the reason Kabam stopped doing hour-long weekly server maintenance is that they improved their infrastructure and/or processes to not need it. The only time they need to shut down the servers is if the game is so borked by a bug that they don’t want players logging in and exploiting it and/or getting screwed over before it’s fixed. (And they haven’t needed to do that for a while)

The issue is, there are several things that are on a timer. Stashes, sigil, quests etc. those downtimes could be a complication if it consumes too much time. The forum may say it’s okay but the forum isn’t exactly representative of the player base.

I think it would be cool to make some sort of tech to pause these timers during downtime but that could cause a issue overtime as the amount of downtime builds up over time which could mess up their timeline for contents.

After all the time on the forums and as often as this subject is brought up and you still think maintenance is what fixed bugs?

Taking the game down for a week or 2 will do nothing. That's not how live games are fixed. That's not how any live service is fixed. It's been explained hundreds of times here on the forums. You won't see fixes in the game faster if you shut the game down or leave the game up.

As mentioned above one of the big issues that would be affected by an extended downtime for maintenance are Alliance events and unless they were to abruptly cancel and compensate for that lost amount of time, it doesn't benefit the game to shut down.

Going into earlier in the thread, when someone was saying that they missed and appreciated the weekly maintenance, that was done because the old servers required the game to be shut down in order to do those changes into the codes.

When they upgraded to their new systems and their new servers, that was no longer necessary to fix things, so with the exception of the very rare, once in a blue moon emergency maintenance shutdown, they can upload new codes and patches in real time without having to shut down with at most, having to tell people to completely close out the game and relaunch the app for any changes to be noticeable.

The other thing that has been mentioned multiple times even on streams is that it's not a blanket issue and these separate issues are all being worked on at the same time but it's one thing where one act is as simple as swapping out a light bulb while the other is like performing brain surgery.

So trying to shut everything down to fix everything once and for all sounds like a simple enough solution but given some of the meticulous work required for the major issues, you could end up shutting down the game for an extended period of time and lose a ton of profits with no real progress to show for it.

Kabam has told us multiple times that maintenance was not to fix bugs but clean things up on their end of the servers. It actually had almost absolutely nothing to do with even fixing bugs at all.

Nah, they need an excuse for all the bugs. “We do live updates so that we don’t disturb players”.
F ups will still happen even with planned maintenance
