Update to BG 'soon'

Please tell me if people disagree (I imagine a lot will) but all this latest announcement is telling me is that Kabam had no intention of updating BG anytime soon, be that rewards or the game mode itself

It really does feel like they are now striking to come up with ideas, nothing has been getting worked on recently and BG has been left to rot.

I really hope that we get something soon, because right now I feel like we're looking at minimum one more season of the same, maybe more.

It means what they said it means. They've been working on some developments, and they will share more in the coming weeks.

I'll be curious to see the updates.
I just don't know what they can possibly give as rewards to the higher-tier BG players that will satisfy them.
Half the decks I face are all R3s with most of them awakened and full of sigs.
The only thing these players lack is more R4s, and I just don't see Kabam opening the R4 floodgates for the sake of BG rewards...
Maybe these top whales crying will actually just benefit the lower fish like me, if it means better R3 and sig stone/awakening mats as BG rewards.

The main benefit is gonna be mysterium/celestial the same way there was a massive disparity in rewards between Master and Plat when AW got buffed.
Yeah, I think this is where it’s going. Kabam seems dead set on creating that massive gap among valiants. I guess the goal is to make the non-top players spend tons of money to get any benefit. Otherwise, they can enjoy their monthly 7 star and quarterly rank up.

    1/15 of a basic 7* is 75% more costly than 1/20 of a T4a.

    Dr. Zola

Lowering the cost on those would be great for someone like me, but how will it help the top spenders/players in the celestial pools?
For example, I watched DamnEpic open like 30 7* crystals on his stream, and every champ he pulled was already max sig R3.
The only update that will improve these complainers' rosters is T7B rewards.
But small fragments won't really make them happy, and whole or large fragments will open the R4 floodgates way sooner than anyone has predicted.

Right, it has to be significant T7B rewards or else the top spenders/players in Celestial will still be unhappy.
Let's see if Kabam does it.

for an early prediction, i'd say its only going be the rewards structure (more focused for gc and the top of the circuit) and the store and the only aspects that will change with bg.

the core gameplay problem is unlikely to get fixed, and metas are still going to be here and there

There are a bunch of things they could do, one suggestion I heard from multiple Celestial players was giving away that month's featured champs as 7* for placing in Celestial, basically rewarding you for grinding the same way arena does but more value because grinding BGs to that point is of course way harder, this way they would at the very least have one more brand new 7* they can to take to r3 every month which would keep the game from getting too boring for some who currently have to wait months for the Titan to rotate or spend hundreds every month to maybe pull the new champ once. I can guarantee you people would grind for something like this though we've seen how competitive arena can get before.
They could also give r3 materials and very small amount of r4 materials instead of those useless relic shards and alloys nobody cares about.
They have options, and contrary to popular belief most Celestial players aren't the kind of whales you're describing, those kinds of whales spend that much money to make up for lack of skill and most of them don't make it that high in Celestial, money can only get you so far in a game mode where skill and RNG are involved.

Yeah, it takes a lot of skill to get into the top Celestial tiers, but you also have to spend a fair amount of money.
Maybe not tens of thousands of dollars like the biggest whales, but I've looked at the rosters, and there just isn't enough F2P rewards that would get you the perfect sig 200 R3s for every meta.
Remember, it's not just the total number of R3s (and R4s) you see in someone's deck. You have to also calculate how many other crystals they had to have opened to RNG the perfect BG champs they got and awakened and max sig'd.

Anyway, we will see. And at the end of the day, it's not even relevant to me.
I'm not one of those delusional players who uses the lack of good rewards as some kind of excuse for not being a Celestial player. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, but we can't all be Celestials, and the number of people who complain about Celestial rewards is way higher than the number of Celestial spots up for grabs.

Also, some comments from DLL about this issue from his most recent YT stream: (not agreeing or disagreeing with him, but this is obviously an "insider" take that subtly reveals the Kabam perspective on things perhaps):

"We all know it's time for a Battlegrounds rewards update. Some of us know that things can't all get updated at the same time and something will always be behind. Some of us also take it as a personal affront when Battlegrounds is the thing that is currently being left behind and that part could chill quite a bit, but Battlegrounds is not being abandoned, the engagement is still doing completely fine and content creators at the top being loud doesn't change
that. And so what that means is that there is no Battlegrounds abandonment fiasco. What there is is discontent with some of our most engaged players and that's not great, it is absolutely time for a rewards update but it's not some like impending disaster that we need to be panicking over."

And let's also be real about something. If someone sucks at BG but still wants to feel like they could dominate if they wanted to, then saying “BG is abandoned and the rewards suck” lets them maintain the illusion that they’re not missing out on anything.

Isn't that obvious update is not like a food u want it u just order it lol, next month content & build is already needs to be done 1month in advanced - then they work on minor bug fixes , testing etc

For a big change like this, it needs to be in the update which will likely to be in May Build with the Valiant EQ(beta)

It would be interesting to know how they really measure engagement and whether it’s different from simple participation. I can’t remember a season of BGs that felt less engaging than this one. I have never seen more straight forfeits or people putting the phone down to earn the every other day objectives.

Could feel this way (for me, maybe for others) because there’s been so much more Everest content lately which I prefer over BGs. Or it could be a fairly tedious VT meta and an utterly braindead GC meta. Again, just my opinion. I’m sure some people love this GC meta, but when I look at it and the attacker buffs seem to have no relationship to the defender buffs and Aegon is the best defender for the meta… I can’t care that much.

    Battlegrounds is simply perfect

Do not mess with a higher standard of the game.

    Best mode.
