CMM style chase and the development of the “boring” chase

I feel like it hasn’t been discussed very much, but do you think we will ever see a CMM style chase again?
I personally found style of chase to be the most fun I’ve had with them. I started playing again in August during the middle of the chase and became thronebreaker during the last month. The ability to open paragon crystals and contribute towards getting the chase felt much more rewarding than simply collecting 1/75 or 1/100 of a character.
I really loved chases as a concept during this time but it seems that this streamline towards a singular, useless resource has taken the fun out of trying to get the chase. Not only did the crystals provide you with the chance of bolstering your roster, but you could also duplicate the chase champ if you were lucky.
Furthermore, it felt rewarding as a player if you wanted to spend money on the game. The daily deals contributing a point towards CMM and providing a crystals felt like a good mesh to encourage players to get some extra value out of it. I understand that the way daily deals work right now is the same way, one crystal and one chase resource, but it felt much better to have an immediate effect for your purchase, instead of saving up a bunch of one resource to do a quest.
While my points may be all over the place, I want to say that I think the chase within sagas has been increasingly more dry compared to their predecessors. CMM utilized crystals and a ton of milestones to reward the player for participating. The sinister chase shifted this, instead removing crystals and requiring players to build earn tickets towards a package, making it so you got less resources than the chase before (as with CMM you got 6* and 7* stuff, with this you could only get 7* OR 6*). And now with the latest chase, I worry that placing the reward of Phoenix behind a quest could mean even less rewards than even the sinister chase.

Furthermore, I find that it acts as a restriction of unlocking these champions full potential. The ability to duplicate chase champs has gone to zero with these last two sagas, while we were once offered a small, but nice, chance to awaken CMM with the crystals. Not having any chance or way awaken sinister was annoying, and the most recent change with Phoenix requiring an additional 64 dark plumes is still annoying. The cheapest a dark plume can be purchased for is $5 in the daily deal. That means you have to spend $320 to awaken Phoenix if you get every dark plume. While I appreciate a way to awaken the champion, provided f2p or smaller spenders the chance to awaken these chase champions with crystals was a great feature in the CMM chase. I am not saying to remove the ability to awaken with money, but I feel like these chases could be a lot better if we reverted back to that style.
Kabam decides their own system. If they wanted to give us 25 paragon crystals as the max milestone, they easily could. They concisely lessened the rewards and removed crystals for sagas while not making it any easier to get the saga “tokens”.
I think a guarantee at a 7* champ PLUS the rare opportunity to open them in crystals made the whole journey fun and not just the collection of items to trade in to buy it at the end. It also felt more 'fair' that even if you didn't make it all the way to the end goal, you still had a (rather slim) chance of drawing them from the crystals you open.
Here's hoping we have *anything* like it again, because this Phoenix chase is boring but feels like the norm.
I *think* this must hit the nail on the head with why they did CMM this way and not the others.
Because she was *ready to go*. If you drew her from a crystal early, you got her and that was okay. I would love if they introduce a saga champ that’s just ready to go, ya know, at the start of the saga and give us the crystal opening kind of objective again.
